One hope that I have when I think about working with
children and families who come from diverse backgrounds is that I can use what
I have learned these last eight weeks to make a difference in my classroom and
in the lives of every child I come in contact with including my own children. I
have learned that we must respect others and individuality. I will work to
collaborate with families and make sure that I am respecting their culture and
ideals while being conscious of microaggressions and –isms.
One goal that I would like to set for the early childhood
field related to issues of diversity, equity, and social justice would be that
all professionals would embrace the anti-bias education approach and work to
advocate for all children and their families.
I would like to thank my colleagues for opening themselves
up and sharing their stories of sadness as well as your triumphs. I also appreciate
your feedback and words of encouragement and support. I wish you all the best and
look forward to collaborating and working with you in the future.

ReplyDeleteI have also learned so much information from this course, it has taught me to be more open and accepting of diversity. It has allowed me to gain more insights in diversity especially how to be able to help my families and children who are diverse. I have thoroughly enjoyed everyone's insights thanks for sharing wishing you much success as you continue on your journey.
This has been a very interesting course that has presented new ideas to me. I hope to be an educator who embraces diversity and use the things that I have learned in this course to help me. I have enjoyed reading your blog and wish you the best in your future courses.
