My Aunt Darvina - My aunt is no longer with me and I consider her my guardian angel. She passed away from Breast Cancer about 11 years ago. She was my Sunday School teacher when I was 2-5 years old and I think about her all the time. I remember the songs she would sing to us during Sunday School and how she was always nice and kind. She always made me feel like I was one of her children when she would take my cousins and I would places and I miss her dearly.

It sounds like you had some amazing, strong women role models in your life! I also grew up with strong women that I attribute my confidence and strong will to. I think think that it is so important that your Aunt Alys gave you that special one on one time. I have three children now and I am always worried that they don't get enough one on one time. We spend a lot of time as a family, but not a lot of time appreciating each child individually. It was great to see how much this time meant to you, as I will try to make this a higher priority in our lives. Thanks for your post.
ReplyDeleteYour post brings back great memories. I too have an aunt that used to braid my hair. She would have intricate styles, and add beads! I loved the sound of them, when I'd swing my head from side-to-side.
ReplyDeleteI love how your aunt taught you valuable life skills and had fun with you at the same time. She sounds like a special woman. Thanks for sharing! :)
